i'm planning to go visit my daughter this friday. the plan is for me to bring down some boxes, help her pack up some of her dorm, and then go out and play. a little shopping, lunch, and maybe even a movie. we're both looking forward to it.
it reminds me of when i was a young adult and my mom and i would get together for a whole day. how i always looked forward to those times. they were like a mini vacation... a day's reprieve from the daily grind. but it was more than that. it was time with my mom, which i also enjoyed tremendously.
thanks mom for those days; for the time we spent together and the fun we had shopping and eating. and for nurturing my love for movies. those days enabled me to offer the same thing to my daughter. it's a wonderful tradition to pass on - maybe for many generations.
i'll be thinking of you this friday as dani and i enjoy our day.

I loved and still love days with my mom. She is 76 yrs old and we are still best of friends. I cherish each of my daughters and so love that one on one time with them that I rarely get.
Have a glorious time with Dani! Do all the fun and special things that will make those memories for your daughter that will make her look back and cause her to find a very warm spot in her heart for you.
(I didn't realize that you had a daughter the age of mine :) I thought you were just a real youngen. Not implying your old, but it's so great find someone who might understand my heart with college age kids.)
love the photo by the way. I work for an eye doctor.
Enjoy your day with your daughter. I know how very special mine are with my two girls when we get together for lunch, shopping and just nice long chats. Sometimes just two of us, sometimes all three of us. Special, special times.
