i forgot

I forgot how beautiful a field of wildflowers is.

I forgot how much the weather can wreak havoc on campers and their outdoor homes.

I forgot how inconvenient it is to have to walk to the bathroom each time you need to go.

I forgot how wonderful the trees, lake, campfires, and sunshine smells.

I forgot how many stars are in the sky.

I forgot how cold it can get in the Colorado mountains at night.

I forgot how much reading I can get done when there's nothing else better to do.

I forgot that it's better to have shorter nails when camping, so you don't break them all.

I forgot how good food tastes when it's cooked outdoors.

I forgot how much work goes into setting up and tearing down camp.

I forgot how good a shower feels after a camping trip.

I forgot how much I love camping!

I love camping, too. Both Colin and I come from big time camping families. Unfortunately, the girls aren't too crazy about it yet, but we hope that changes next year. We're still traumatized from the last time (they were two) :) My parents ended up taking them home two nights early and let us enjoy the time and that was so awesome of them. Hopefully 2010 will be our year!

Beautiful picture!! I'm glad you are enjoying your cmaper. It sounds like a great time! Some of my greatest memories as a kid are the times my family went camping.

It looks like you got a great spot! We haven't camped in a couple of years. Your post reminded me of all the reasons I love it:)

Beautiful location!! Were you in a campground?? Certainly doesn't look like a PA campground, but then, our state is full of trees!!

So glad you had a great time! I think we may need to set up our tent in the backyard to get a few more campouts in before cooler weather comes!!

Boy, does that look like a little slice of heaven! We need to take the boys camping at least once before this summer is over! I think they'd love it.

Gorgeou picture. What a view!

Here, here! And Amen! We just came back from a 3-day trip ourselves up high in the Sierras. I haven't relaxed so much in I don't know when! Everything you said is so true (except we're blessed to have a bathroom in our trailer!). I found myself thanking God several times each day as I basked in His creation. We got hailed on, warned of bears, and found a great, safe swimming hole along the river. I also forgot how dirty you get when camping! Yay for showers! Yay for camping!

I wish I was a better camper. I love being outdoors, I hate sleeping there. I'm a bear when I don't get enough sleep...
I love your list though! Maybe I should give it another try...

Ugh! Now I have the camping fever! We haven't been in over a year and I'm starting to feel the itch.

We camped in the Rockies a few years back and it definitely ranks as one of our BEST camping trips, evar!

OH GIRL How could you forget? It just doesn't get any better than this!!!
We are in Nebraska and few hours away from my Beloved Colorado! But . . . someone could cancel the tornados and I'd be good with it! :)
