...
Happy Friday all. Here's my Aloha Friday question for this week...
What's your favorite movie that was made before you were born?
As much as I love movies, I don't really get into the older ones like some people do. I remember when I was a kid, I used to love watching the old Shirley Temple and Doris Day movies, but I wouldn't consider them favorites. I've seen such classics as Breakfast at Tiffany's, Casablanca, It's a Wonderful Life, The Birds, Vertigo, African Queen, The King and I, and Gone With the Wind, but again, none are my favorites (although the last two come close).
If I have to name just one favorite, it would have to be The Wizard of Oz. I'd call it a favorite because whenever it comes on TV, I can't pass it up. I still enjoy watching it even though I've seen it innumerable amount of times. It brings back childhood memories of watching it with the family, eating popcorn, and being frightened of those flying monkeys.
Thanks Kailani for giving us such a fun place to hang out each Friday.

I love 7 brides for 7 brothers. The music & bright costumes not to mention the sillyness of it all just make me smile.
It's a Wonderful Life is my all time favorite movie.
I really, really like North by Northwest. And I seem to forget the plot when I haven't seen it for a while, so it's always suspenseful!
{By the way, is your Wendell Berry quote from The Hidden Wound? He's a great writer!}
There's a movie I really love called Christmas in Connecticut which is my favorite.
Breakfast at Tiffany'and Casablanca are my favourites too.
Yeah, it would probably be The Wizard of Oz for me, too. Most movies I really love came out after I was born.
I love all those plus Yours, Mine and Ours. Oh, and Ghost....but that's not as old.
I love It's a Wonderful Life. I watch it any time of year! I do like The Wizard of Oz as well but haven't watched it for years.
I was going to say "The Wizard of Oz" too :) Also, "The Sound of Music" is another favorite!
um, wow I'm not sure I can think of one. We also loved wizard of oz as a kid because it was one of the first movies we saw in color. (no I'm not that old, we just always had black and white tvs for some reason)
I wold have the say The African Queen. I did need to look up the date is was made, jut in case. ;)
You named some good ones and several come close to my favorite. I would have to say White Christmas. I've watched it so many times, I could recite the entire movie. Oldie but goodie.
Probably Mary Poppins or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang! :)
Gone with the Wind possibly.
It is hard to say.
Have a great Friday!

"White Christmas".
The Wizard of Oz is pretty cool.
Thank you for stopping by my playground. Much appreciated. Mine would have to be what yours is. The Wizard of Oz. Have a great week :)
Love Mary Poppins, Old Yeller, My Fair Lady and others. Great question!
One movie I liked was Birds... it was the weirdest movie ever...
Hi Diana,
Thank you for posting your comments on my blog--very encouraging. I will continue to write the real stuff--I don't think I really know how to do it any other way. I'm either in, or out. I've decided I'm in! So thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts.I will chronicle this life-the good, the bad, and the fabulous!
On to my favorite movie--the Haley Mills version of the Parent Trap. There is something so innocent and magical about the story, plus now I have twins to share it with when they are a bit older:)
My fave is The Shawshrank Redemption
I love the title of your blog. :) Reminds me of a song ...
Probably The Sound of Music. I love the songs in that movie.
This one's easy: Sound of Music. I've probably watched it over 100 times!
It would have to be Its a WOnderful Life - and I think some of the reason I like this one the most is b/c I was allowed to stay up and watch it past bedtime - at Christmastime with my dad!
I've no idea.
Sound of Music, Mary Poppins and Wizard of OZ for sure. I'm so excited to watch them with my girls some day soon and to see how they feel about them :)
I love all the Jimmy Stewart and Cary Grant movies. My favorite ones are Arsenic and Old Lace, The Philadelphia Story, and I'm No Angel.
