soap operas

...

In yesterday's post I wrote my thoughts on the current state of soap operas as well as saying farewell to the longest running soap (72 years), Guiding Light.

This week's Aloha Friday question is...

Do you watch any soap opera(s)? If so, which one(s)?

My first two soaps were Guiding Light and then, As the World Turns. Through the years, I have stuck with As the World Turns and on average, watch it twice a week, just to keep up with the characters and story lines. I also watch Young and the Restless with about the same frequency.

Aloha Friday is hosted each week by Kailani of An Island Life.

I have never watched a soap opera in my life.

No soap operas for me. I'm too afraid of getting addicted.

I don't watch any soap operas, but when I was young my mom would put on The Young and the Restless quietly and lie on the couch for a nap while I played in the living room. I was shocked to find it's still on. Honestly, how would you feel if you spent your entire life acting on a soap opera? Yeesh.

Nope.

My mom had off work in the summers and I can remember watching The Young and The Restless with her. I watched it some during college and when we were first married. But, now with kids, I rarely turn it on.

I've always loved the movie Mr Mom - a portion of it takes a spin on Y&R LOL!!!

Many years ago I watched the ABC soaps, All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital. It's been years now and I don't watch any soaps.

I LOVE Y&R. I honestly can't believe how many people don't watch them, but then like you said most moms/wives work during the day now. My life is so busy/stressful at times it's nice to see what kind of ridiculous story line they can come up with next! It's my one hour break from reality!!

I used to watch The Edge Of Night and Another World. When they took them off, I quit watching soaps unless you count things like Grey's or E.R., the night time soaps.

OK, now I am confused. Was there a soap called Another World or was I watching As The World Turns? LOL Which world was I watching?

Oh I am a HUGE One Life to Live and General Hospital fan. I have been watching those since I was a kid because my own mother watched!

I don't get to see them often...but sometimes I turn on SoapNet on the weekends and catch up.

I'm guessing you can guess my answer to this....seeing as how I don't have television.....

Mine were All My Children, Days of Our Lives and Young and Restless. Come to think of it, I kind of miss the soaps.

I love soaps! I grew up watching them and continue to watch them. At one time I was watching as many as five soaps Y&R,B&B,GL,ATWT,and Another World. Of course now there is really only one soap that I watch regularly-General Hospital. I no longer have time to watch a lot of soaps so I only watch the ones that will hold my interest and as of now GH fits that description. I think I will always have a fondness for the genre no matter which soap I am watching.
