I had a different post I was working on tonight. But one phone call not only changed this post, but the way I ended up spending the evening.
My husband, Don, left for a business trip to Canada on Monday and is supposed to return Wednesday morning. Unfortunately, his rental car was broken into Tuesday night and his briefcase was stolen. In his briefcase was his work laptop, his wallet with over $300 and credit cards in it, his passport, his cell phone charger, and his car and house keys.
So I have spent the evening calling credit companies, the bank, and relatives, as well as trying to figure out how he can get home without any kind of identification. We haven't figured out how he's going to do this, so if you are inclined to pray, please say a prayer for Don and this situation.
I'm also worried about identity theft. Oh, I hope we don't have this problem in our future.

first, will pray for you
next, on the identity theft thing. look online for experian's website, on it there is a way for you to say that you had indentifiers stolen and are worried about identity theft. Then they will put an alert on your credit report (they will also alert the other 2 reporting agencies) There are 2 types of alerts you can put so read and choose. But basically this means that BEFORE anyone can use your information to buy or open anything (like a car or a credit card) they must first call the number you provide and ask a security question or two to get verification that you authorize the use of the credit. We did this last year when our outgoing bills were stolen from the mailbox. There was one thing I was buying online from out of the country and the credit card wouldn't go through, when I called the number provided they said that it was due to that identity protection I'd put on my credit report ! AHA!! it worked! :-)
next, he can't be the first person to have his ID stolen while out of the country. There's a way to get him home. I'm sure you'll find it.
You'll probably even get some funny stories about beauracracy at it's finest to blog about.....after he's been home for a couple days.
hang tight friend.
Oh, Diana I'm so sorry. I just saw this on the Prayer Blog and posted a prayer.
I was glad to read mightymom's advice.
I wanted to tell you I used your name in my post today about Following.
Susan
Diana, I'm so sorry! I will pray for Don's safe return and that you can resolve everything quickly and with the least amount of turmoil in your lives.
I wish I had an answer for this. It is the fastest growing crime in America (and I guesss Canada) But they should have something set up so he can come home, maybe a lot of red tape but there should be something that can be done.
I'm sorry this happened.
Praying for you and Don.
I will pray for his safe return and that you get all the issues worked out with the things that got stolen.
:-O
:-(
Praying.
Having been praying lots for Don!
I'm sure something will work out about the plane ticket.
Anxious to hear from you with good news!
We too long for the good news that we anticipate will come for you. Trust in the Lord, Di, and let Him work this out.
Oh how tough this must be for you. Our prayers are constantly with you and Don. We extend our love and compassion.
Ugh, what a pain! I'll be praying for you guys. Mightymom has some good advice. Sounds like you're doing all the right things. Hang in there!
Oh, what a nightmare. I'll bet he wants to be home too.
Praying for his safe and speedy return,...
I'm so sorry! I have prayed.

Diana,
I am praying! For you and for Don and for God to quickly work out all of the details to bring Don home. Jason travels a lot for work and I KNOW how much or a hassle this would be. I am so glad he is safe, though.
I am desperately behind on blog reading. We are heading to Baltimore and I am going to take some time (while Grandma and Grandpa watch the boys) to catch up with you and your blog!!
Oh no! I would cancel and change everything just in case. You just never know about the crazies out there!
Praying.
Did he call the American embassy? (probably already done) There must be some protocol for this. They probably need to know as well that his travel documents are stolen.
I will be praying for it all to get sorted out and for him to get home soon.
