a new project

With Jake going off to school, I have now officially become an empty-nester. I do have some ideas and plans for some of my free time. I'm sure I'll be writing about them as the they flesh out more and ideas come to fruition.

I have come across a project that I think is worthwhile and that I would enjoy. It's called x365 and done through blogging, which means I have started a sister blog. I know... I know, I've started sister blogs before for projects that I wanted to tackle only to abandon them.

This new one will require that I have an entry for each day for a year (thus the name 365). I wasn't able to keep up with the picture a day project. What makes me think I'll be successful at this one?

I am hoping I can stick with this one because I truly believe and am excited in it's purpose. And even if I don't actually post on a certain day, I can make it up the next day. The purpose is to get 365 posts done in one year.

The project: to write about 365 people who has been a part my life in some way or another. A different person each day. But the fun part is (I say fun now but I may end up hating this little aspect) that my reflection of the person is done in 48 words - no more, no less. Why 48? Because that is my age. And in October, I'll increase it to 49 words.

One of the purposes I have in blogging is to leave a written record of who I am, and what I'm all about, for the generations who follow me. I think I will richly add to this blog by sharing 365 people who I have crossed paths with in my 48/49 years. And it will bless me to reflect on those who have had an impact on my life.

I invite you to stop by any time to check out who the person of the day is. I realize that most of these people won't mean much to most of you and I don't expect a lot of readership. I am doing this more for myself. And if nothing else, it will give me something to focus on during this time when I'm trying to get used to an empty and quiet house.

Wow, what an absolutely fantastic idea...for an empty nester. ha. I say that because it sounds great, but I could never find the time to do it. Much less even have to count my words. AGGGGHH - I'm too stressed. I think I stay in that state. Anyway, great idea though. That is such a great idea....what a way to share about those that are important to you.

I think this is a FANTASTIC idea. (I realize Dana wrote the same thing, but it's the best word to describe it.)

I will LOVE reading about the people who have impacted your life.

well, I think I'll wait a few years before I try that one! 33 words just isn't enough!! :-)

Oh, and what're the rules for counting the words, is it the standard every 5 characters make a word or is it an actual count of words or is it a take the longest line and the shortest line and multiply the mean number of words in those 2 lines by the number of lines????

(I took 1 too many literature/writing classes in college......every prof had their own definition of "100 word minimum, 150 word limit")

I like it! So many people cross our path, some leave little marks others are life changing.

I will definitely be reading about your 365 people. The word limitation is definitely a challenge! You are good at challenges, though.

WOW - what a neat idea and how cool that you are trying it! I think that would surely be something to blurb then!! :)

Good luck as you begin!

This sounds like a very fun, and I'll bet challenging idea. I'll be eager to travel it along with you. I really like the idea that you have to limit the number of words. See, I would have an advantage over you :o)

I think this is a fabulous challenge! It will definitely take creativity - I'm no good with word counts. I either say too little or way too much!

This is great, Diana! I just read your first posts. I tried to do the 365 picture a day thing and just couldn't make it, either. I hope you don't find this too much of a challenge. It makes me wonder if I could find 365 people who have been important in my life. Probably.
