unbelievable

I don't usually support law suits. The only ones are where there is obvious gross negligence. I learned of a situation today and it makes me so upset that I want to sue this teacher on behalf of a little boy.

Here's the unbelievable story. A five year old boy was "voted out" of his kindergarten class after each classmate was allowed to say what they didn't like about him. After he was asked to leave the classroom, he went and sat in the nurses office for the rest of the day.

This is so wrong on so many levels and it makes me so mad - and sad. What is crazy about the whole thing is that a teacher instigated this. What in the world was she thinking!? This little boy is in the process of being diagnosed with Aspberger's Syndrome, which is a highly functioning form of autism. But whether this student was challenged in some way or not, why would you have some kind of process where you vote a fellow student out of the classroom?

Have we not learned anything from school shootings, such as Columbine, or from best selling books explaining how bullying affects a child? Don't teachers see these affects on a daily basis and therefore have a deeper compassion for the plight of students? I just don't get this teacher. And then what was the school thinking letting this child sit in the nurse's office the rest of the day? It breaks my heart to think what was going through this boy's mind as he sat all by himself for any period of time.

Evidently, the mother filed a complaint but the state attorney's office concluded that the matter didn't meet the criteria for emotional child abuse and therefore no criminal charges were filed. I don't get that either. What was done to this innocent little boy constitutes emotional abuse in my book. The mother is considering suing and I hope she does. I think the teacher and the school need to be held accountable for what they did.

And I pray for this little boy. May he come to know compassion, understanding, tolerance, acceptance, and support. If a student can't get these things in a kindergarten class, we as a society are in trouble.

i think that more people need to consider this when choosing the teaching profession. if it isn't something like this, then it is a teacher justifying her right to bare all on the internet in her free time....choose a different profession people.

It's amazing to me that people like that go into teaching. If you don't have the patience to deal with ALL kinds of kids, do something else!!

What a horror. As a retired teacher I am horrified that such a thing happened. As teacher of emotionally disturbed children, this makes me "fightin'" mad! Yes, we must pray for the boy and also for this teacher, and the whole class, and the whole mess! Dear Lord, have mercy upon us when we injure others!

This is so sad and so awful!

What do teachers think they have the right to do? They are there to teach, not determine (or even allow their students to determine) who *is* and *isn't* allowed to stay in the class. Even if his behaviors may have caused interruptions, it could have been the perfect opportunity for her to teach ways to help him and work together - not toss him out.

Makes me furious!!! So, I'll end here.

Something's not right here. The nurse must report a child sitting in her office. I cannot believe that a kindergarten child could spend a portion of the day in the nurse's office and no parent be called. The principal should have automatically been aware of it, too. Where's the procedure? These are all rhetorical questions, but I just don't feel that all the facts are in. Had this happened to a child of mine, there would have been no question of legal action, criminal charges, anything I could get. And schools do not condone the kind of actions alleged here, either. I'll wait til someone gets to the bottom of this to see what's "wrong with this picture". As I say: It's "Unbelievable".

Anytime you single out a child in a negative way, there's bound to be trouble. This is so wrong!

HORRORS!!!!!

As a former teacher, this sickens me. Sickens me to tears.

I am beyond words with anger, sadness and sorrow. Your prayer for that little boy in the end is beautiful. may he come to know the NEVER ENDING UNCONDITIONAL love of Jesus and may God bring someone in his life to show it to him.

I think they should let the little boy decide her fate; those Asperger kids can be quite creative!

Glad you're checking out the Buzz!!
