auld lang sine

Can you believe it!? This is the last day of 2007. Where did the year go? It's that time when I reflect on the past year and think about what I would like the new year to look like. One could call that process making resolutions. I don't, mainly because I've made many resolutions throughout my life and I don't usually keep them. So I learned that if I don't call them resolutions, I can't break them ;)

2007 wasn't the best of years and we're looking forward to 2008 being a better one. Don's job situation, and not knowing what his future would look like, made most of the year a stressful time. And I was a little overwhelmed in November when I was diagnosed with Diabetes.

But, for the present time, Don still has his job and I think I have my Diabetes under control. God has been good to see us through these times and we are thankful that our trials weren't any worse. He promises us that He doesn't give us more than we can handle.

There were a lot of good things that happened this past year and, again, I am thankful for each and every blessing and happy event that was a part of our 2007. I do look forward to 2008 because I look forward to seeing how God will use me and what He has in store for me and my family.

Even though I don't make resolutions, there are some things that I will be working hard on to achieve. I plan to read more. There are so many books I have that I haven't read. I love to read. I just need to make it more of a priority.

I also want to get back into scrapbooking. Again, I just need to make it a priority. I plan to spend my new year's eve of 2009 sitting around looking through all my finished photo albums with the satisfaction of having read so many books.

Of course, what I just wrote may come back to haunt me, but I'm going to be working hard at it all. I hesitate to mention this, but I'll also be working on being better at exercising and eating healthier. But again, these ARE NOT resolutions.

the term resolutions i think just seems to go with the changing of the years...even if it isn't really what we want to do. i think we make resolutions every day, "i will get up and be nice to my family today."

making general resolutions as if that will make us do it...is silly. because it is destined for failure, as we are sinners and failing is what we do best:0)

this year, on my blog, my approach was to show areas that i know i struggle with and will continue too, but hopefully i will also improve. that's all we can do, right?

happy new year!

Happy New Year, friend! :)

I don't make New Year's resolutions, either. I love the start of a fresh, new year, but I'm not into making resolutions and then hoping to keep them. At this stage of my life, my resolutions (like Heidi Jo's), are daily, sometimes hourly, ones!

I have loved getting to know you this year and sharing in your life stories and struggles. You have encouraged me SO much, and I am really looking forward to a new year of your thoughts and friendship!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Happy New Year!
I have followed your blog for awhile and I am so glad I have. You have made all the difference in the Sunniness of my days!

As to having been diagnosed with a disease although I am sad for you, I also am grateful that you live in the US and have numerous places and options to be treated. I also was grateful to read it was something that is treatable. In fact I prayed for you and that is the peace I felt.

As to Don's job situation, I understand the stress of that too. Bill lost his, although due to an accident, the uncertainty you feel, I share.

My only comfort to you is this...you are never alone, God uses all things for Him. I am not citing noted scripture to be trite, but that I myself have seen what seemingly is devastation used for God in my own life.

Wishing you a healthy 2008 and focusing on Jesus.(The things I have as resolutions for me)And a healthy year is one where you maintain where you are(as Bill is in Chronic pain, but is otherwise not ill>..you with diabetes..)
Hugs and sunshine to sunshine diana

I don't know if it is because we are having people over tonight and that all my time and effort is going into preparations - but I was kinda shocked when I read that today is the last day of 2007 - silly, I know.

I guess I'm kinda running short on time to finish anything out in 2007 - but there is something about a new year and a fresh start that rejuvinates me to try again and try harder to change things in my life!

Many blessings to you, friend, in 2008 and always!! :-D

I'm with you in not making resolutions. I like the term "what you want the year to look like!"

I don't know what I'm going to call them, but I'm going to write down the thoughts I have regarding the new year.

Good for you on the scrapbooking, and reading of course. I read Shoot the Moon in two days. A big thanks!

So true about New Years Resolutions....it is so hard to keep them.
I do know that there are many things that I need to work on each and every single day.
Happy New Years!

I like your non-resolutions! Hehehehe! I'd call them dreams. My pastor says that dreams are the language of the Holy Spirit...so dream away!! When dreams come true, they are oh, so sweet! Have a great New Years!!

I am not one who makes resolutios, either. What a great post - so reflective of challenges and blessings. Much happiness in 2008!

I rarely keep the resolutions I make; I seem to make and break the same ones every year!

I hear you on the reading and scrapbooking, I also want to make more time for them and other things I enjoy doing.

Have a great 2008!
