tell me i'm not the only one

I know I may be judged for this, but I do try very hard to paint an accurate picture of who I am and what my life looks like. I am a reality TV fan. There... I said it. Judge me if you wish.

Not all reality TV, because we all know there are some crazy and stupid reality shows out there. But there are some good shows out there. I personally find some value in reality TV. I am an observer of people - of mankind. I find great interest in how people evolve and how they interact with others. That's what most reality TV is all about; how people interact with each other. I find it utterly fascinating.

Anyways, that's just my preface to what I really wanted to say. I just got done watching this week's episode of The Bachelorette. I can't believe I'm watching this show [we'll blame it on my daughter] because I loathe The Bachelor. But The Bachelorette is so different.

When it's The Bachelor, it's one guy with 25 girls who will do just about anything for the attention of the guy. It's not a pretty picture - or TV show in this case. But with The Bachelorette, you have one gal who's serious about finding a guy. She shows her emotions and she honestly cares about each guy, making it very hard to let one (or more) go each week.

This last episode had me in tears - literally. I cried three separate times. If a show can make me cry, it's worth my time. I have really enjoyed the show and the process it chronicles.

So here's my Aloha Friday question:

Do you watch any reality TV?
And if so, what is your favorite?

And just for the record, my favorite is still Survivor. The first true reality TV show.

Kailani hosts Aloha Friday each and every week. For more fun questions to answer, hop on over to her place.

Happy Friday!

Yes, I watch several reality shows, but not "The Bachelor." I watch Project Runway, Top Chef, and Work Out on Bravo. I also have watched a few seasons of Survivor, but not all. I like to watch programs that require skill on the part of the contestant. That's why "Deal or No Deal" holds no interest for me. It's just about luck . . . nothing more.

yes I do watch them. I watch apprentice, john and kate plus eight. I don't watch the contest one's where they are competing for another person's attention. Have you seen Rock of Love I guess I watched some episodes of that but its cause I couldn't believe how these women were just slutting it up

I typically jump on the wagon as the series wind down to its final couple of episodes. The tv is rarely on in the summer, so I usually watch on those cold winter nights....but, if I would watch every episode of one, it would be The Amazing Race. I love to see where they all travel - and I don't think that show gets as "ugly" with its taticts to win.

We enjoy The Amazing Race. I usually get angry with some of the mean stunts people pull in the end however we are big on travel so we enjoy seeing the different countries we may or may not have been to.

OK, I'll admit it. I'm not a fan of reality TV, but I'll watch if there's nothing else on and I'm not engrossed in a book.

The ones I don't mind watching are "The Next Food Network Star" and "What Not To Wear." I used to watch "American Idol" and "Survivor," but lost interest in them after their second seasons.

Jon & Kate plus 8 is my addiction. I don't know why I love that show so much. But I love seeing the parents with such patience and love for all those precious babies!

I don't watch too much reality tv, though last season I did watch Biggest Losers Couples and I occasionally watch Jon & Kate plus eight.

My favorite reality show(s) were on PBS were people were put in historical situations. I also loved the one year on BBC where around 25 people spent the entire time on an island New Hebrides. This was incredible because they had to build their homes, slaughter their meat, grow their food and then live in a community. I was impressed at how the thrill of the adventure passed quickly.

If you ever have a chance to see it , it was made in 1999(2000).

Oh I love survivor too(as long as the Sticks and Twigs types are not too prominent)

Interesting comments. I have watched two or three series on PBS, The Apprentice, The Bachelor and The Bachelorette.

After your blog I'll have to tune into this seasons Bachelorette. I like it that she is really showing her emotions. What a difficult thing to do - to choose one man over another as a future husband.

I have never watched that particular show, but I love reality TV too. I am also still stuck on Survivor. My husband and I have watched it from season 1 with naked Richard Hatch...eewwww!! We also watch Big Brother too, but we are starting to feel a little old for it. That last season was a doozy! It starts again in July, so we'll see how that goes!

So no, your not the only one:)

American Idol, Survivor reruns, and Jon&Kate Plus 8. Oh, and Run's House. That one cracks me up! :-)

No need to be ashamed of reality tv--it is better acting than alot of stuff on tv. :-)

I just don't watch TV anymore as you know, but I did when Survivor first started. We used to look forward very much to each episode. I can understand watching how people interact and how their character develops in situations like this. That part of it is fun and interesting. So, you go, girl!

Yes, I too like several reality shows. Thanks to teaching before being a SAHM, I was hooked on American Idol since the kids all watched it. I also used to watch Survivor a lot. I really liked the original Mole. These days I have been known to watch Dancing with the Stars, lots of shows on TLC, and when I remember it is on So You Think You Can Dance.

Glad I found you on Aloha Friday - have a great weekend :)

I must admit I watch some reality shows too, including The Bachelorette(I can blame that on my daughter too..lol). I've watched a couple of seasons of The Bachelor and I agree with you about the differences between the two.

I watched American Idol for the first time this year and got totally into it and I'm a big fan of Jon and Kate Plus Eight.

Like you, I also find it to be fascinating watching the things that people do and say.

Nope, sorry don't watch them, don't like them.

NOPE, no reality TV. Can't stand it....but that's not saying too much remember, cuz I don't watch ANY TV shows at all. NONE. Not even (I'm gonna get shot for this one) the news. The hardest thing I've had to deal with in my job is relearning how to "tune out" the TVs in the rooms I go into. It's always turned up too loud, the shows are nasty, the commercials are distracting and here I am trying to listen to someone's BREATH SOUNDS for crying out loud.

If it ain't on DVD/VHS we don't see it.

Frankly, I don't miss it either.

We love reality tv around here; especially the Bachelorette! My friend has a regular recap on her blog: CheapterThanTherapy.blogspot.com

Too many shows to list, unfortunately, although I haven't watched a lot this summer (too busy having fun!)
