Prince Caspian

I went to see the newest Chronicles of Narnia movie, Prince Caspian, this past weekend. First off, let me just say that it felt a little weird seeing it without my kids. I guess I need to get used to seeing movies with just Don.

Actually, both of my kids had seen the movie with their friends and highly recommended it. So when Don suggested going to the movies on Saturday night, there really wasn't any movie I would have rather seen. (I'm holding on to hope that somehow my family can see the Indiana Jones movie together.)

I have to be honest... I didn't like the sequel as much as I did the first movie. I think it was mostly because I loved the first one. I had never read the books, so the first movie was original and full of Biblical parallels as well as a fun and interesting story line. In my opinion, Prince Caspian just didn't have the same stuff. Not as many Biblical references and too many battle scenes.

I wouldn't say don't go see it. I've heard a lot of people say they loved it. I had my expectations up too high and, for me, it didn't reach the bar I had set for it. If you've seen it, I'd love to hear your thoughts, or after you see it, come back and leave me a comment.

I can't believe you didn't like it as much as the first. I thought it was waaay better! I loved in the end when Lucy found azland and that whole little speech that azland gave her about following him even though others couldnt see or wouldnt believe. and then when she stood up to the whole army by herself and then you see azland behind her, kind of like God will always be on your side and protect you. I just thought so many little parts like that were so cool. plus prince caspian was way hot and nice to look at throughout the whole movie!

Ah... well, they strayed FAR from the book. Really, the second book is about the kids and their journey to rediscovering Aslan and their faith in him... in the book there is no rivalry between Peter and Caspian... Peter's attitude is more of "Aslan has sent me to help... so, I'm here to help."
PLEASE go read the books!! All of them are filled with Biblical parallels that turn the readers attention back to Christ. Aslan represents Him in every book. You'll be amazed and uplifted!!

I'm enjoying your comment and the others. I haven't seen either movie nor read the books, although I am familiar with them and their theme. Hmmmm - maybe I should go see it.

I am going to add a comment to yesterdays blog.

I haven't seen this one yet, but plan to do so.

I was actually disappointed with the first one. I don't know what it was, exactly, that disappointed me because the costumes and sets and acting were pretty darn good. It just lacked that spark. I do still like the movie, though.

Hey Diana my husband and I saw it Saturday night too! Prince Caspian is one of my favorite books of the series so I loved the movie. My favorite part, which is better in the book, is when Aslan tells Lucy that even though the others didn't follow she could have followed alone. Also when Aslan ask Prince Caspian if he was ready to lead he said "I don't think so" Asland then said "then I know you are ready." Being a leader requires humility....there was so much...but while I thought the movie was good ...the book is better. But that is usually the case!

And I liked this review more than most other reviews of it.

I think C.S. Lewis is a rare gift to us modern Christians. he speaks deeper than we first guess.
