what's your favorite?

...
In the spirit of my theme this month, as I participate in NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month), my Aloha Friday question is...

What is your favorite verse(s) from the Bible?

On November 1st, I started sharing the Bible verses that mean the most to me with what I stated as my favorite. Well, I actually have two "favorites." Here is the other one.

30 days of WORDS TO LIVE BY

"'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"
Matthew 22:37-39 NIV

Proverbs 3:5-6 (New International Version)

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;

6 in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight. [a]

I love that one!
My fav has always been:
"He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world" 1 John 4:4
It just speaks to me about how God can conquer anything in my life! Praise the Lord!

I don't think I have one yet, I'm still learning more about the Bible which has been one of my goals lately -- to read the Bible more!

Romans 8:28 has helped me through rough times in high school clear through today.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God; to them who are the called according to His purpose.

Hi Diana, thanks for visiting my blog - I responded to your questions there.

my favorite verse... I don't have a "favorite" - it depends on the day!
But, one I really do like is Phil 4:8
(taken from NCV which is close by)
"Brothers and sisters, think about the things that are good and worthy of praise. Think about the things that are true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected."

Isiah 48:18
O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea.

I know it's a rebuke... He's saying - "Why didn't you listen? Why didn't you obey?" But I also read a promise in there... if you do obey then your peace will be as a river and your righteousness as the waves of the sea... we lived near the Columbia River for a few years. It's huge, deep and constantly flowing. Can you imagine peace like that? And the waves of the sea... again, constant, always motion, sometimes larger than others, but always there...
Peace - deep, wide, constantly flowing
Righteousness - always there no matter how big or small... constant
Our task? To obey!
Now if I could just get it through my head that I need to obey all the time... the reward, I believe, is well worth the effort :)
Sorry! Kind of a long explanation :)

John 13 is one of my favorite passages of scripture in the Bible. So poignant, so tender as Jesus washes his disciples' feet.
