weekend wrap up...

..... Friday I went to the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo held here in Denver each January. I went with my two "Friday movie going" girlfriends and we had a fun time. The stock show highlights anything and everything cowboy and livestock. We walked through the pen area that holds all the prize cattle. It was a smelly place full of activity that is so foreign to any city folk but a second home to those who come to show and/or auction their fine specimens.

We also attended the rodeo. This is the heartbeat of the stock show and a show I've come to love. I'm a city girl, but I've come to love watching the horses and horsemanship that is showcased. I find it amazing entertainment.

..... Saturday, Don and I celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary. Not only have we been married this many years, but we've been together nearly 34 years - and blessed years they have been. God knew what He was doing when he placed two young teenagers in the same Algebra and P.E. class. The rest, as they say, is history. (Pictures from our wedding can be found on last year's post.)

We went out to dinner at Red Lobster and then went over to the movie theater and saw Slumdog Millionaire. I was somewhat surprised to realize, from my Aloha Friday post, that not many go to the movies or care what movies are out there, thus, not caring what movies I see. But I will continue to post about the good movies I see because they are a part of my life and I want to record these events. Slumdog Millionaire was a very good movie with a great story.

..... We woke up this morning to a city bathed in white. A light snow frosted the trees and shrubbery which was beautiful to look at. Too bad it was so darn cold. I did brave the frigid air to take some photos and have included a few here.

Happy anniversary!!!

My brother-in-law used to calf rope so I went to a lot of local rodeo's as a teenager. Mickey has 2 nieces who raise and show horses...they both live in Virginia.

Slugdog is getting the wave reviews. I don't go to movies but I always think it's nice when one of the "little" under budget movies make it big. I'm always rooting for the underdog :o)

ok I was feeling bad for you not thinking anyone liked your movie posts so I went back and read all those comments...they all seemed to have one thing in common...KIDS!! (well, except Susan :-) )

Keep posting about the movies. It is only from recommendations of friends like you who DO see all these movies that I know what to ask for!!

And by the way, how is work going these days? Are you planning to continue next fall?

So, what's the best movie you've seen in the last month??

You know, I've never seen a rodeo before. I think I'd like to take my family one day soon.

Love the photos!

I hope I didn't sound rude in my post. I LOVE hearing about what movies you go to. I always want other people's opinions before I go to a movie. We just don't go to very many. We did take the kids at cost us $70. Between the tickets, pop, and popcorn. That is crazy!! We can't afford to do it very often :) I have thought about taking our own snacks and "hiding" them in my purse....but that isn't quite the message I want to send to my kids about how to follow rules :) So we spend the $70 and only go once or twice a year!

Beautiful pictues of the snow/ice!! We are getting a dusting right now and it's so pretty. I really do love the winter and snow. I just wish it didn't last so long here. And we have set records here in SD this winter for an all time low of -50. I could do without the below zero temps!!

Congratulations on your anniversary. What a wonderful love story that you and your DH are h.s. sweethearts:) How nice!

We missed the stock show this year, darn it. It's so much fun to go and just pretend to be a cowgirl for a day. I love every part of it. Here's story: Years ago I was there and was so impressed with a young woman equestrian. She was so skilled in the competition that she was in. A couple years later, I met my husband and the young woman is his sister. They're city folks, but she got into riding at a young age and decided to compete that year.

Keep up with the movie reviews! As I told you in my e-mail, I love movies, too, and it's always fun to read about someone else's opinion. Slumdog Millionaire is on my list.

Happy Anniversary!!

I hope my comment on the movies didn't come across wrong. I just hate paying the money for a babysitter right now. It's anywhere from $3-5 per kid per hour. So $9-15 an hour!! It costs me more to get a sitter than it does to have a nice evening out! I do enjoy your reviews and I do see some of the movies once they are out on DVD. Keep giving your opinion :)
