I saw the movie Precious this last week. Not a movie I would recommend to everyone due to the nature of the content, but I found it to be very powerful and moving. I'm sure there will be a couple of academy awards given out for this one.
I found myself tearing up a lot throughout the movie and cried at the very end. My heart breaks when I see or hear about a young person being abused in some way. It breaks to the point where I cannot stop the tears. That was the case while watching this movie.
Another situation where I can't control the tears is at the end of Extreme Makeover (Home Edition). It's when they all yell, "move that bus!" and the music swells, and the recipients of the new home are overcome with joy, that gets me every time.

What makes you cry every time?

ReplyDeleteand I've recently STOPPED watching or reading things that tell about children being abused. It isn't entertaining, it's disgusting and upsetting.
I shed tears over everything, lol. Even commercials.

I can cry over just about anything. Any thing to do with my kids is a trigger.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I get teary eyed during commercials sometimes. I always tear up when I hear the Star Spangled Banner. I am very lucky and grateful to be in the US.

Weddings. I know, it's cliche, but I tear up every time. And soldiers in uniform. And the final scene of the movie Homeward Bound, when you think the old dog, Chance, didn't make it, and then he comes running over the horizen. It makes me sob.

When people on movies die. Unless it is an action movie and they are the bad guys.

ReplyDeleteThere's a commercial that they play during the holidays with the song Silent Night. They show all these babies peacefully sleeping. It always brings a tear to my eye.
ReplyDeleteWatching my kids perform in school events...You just feel so happy and proud of them. And I thought my Mom was so funny crying over such dumb stuff. Not so dumb to me know...amazing and wonderful. Also anything that brings an unexpected memory of my oldest boy who died in 2007. He would be 13 right now. I can still be caught off guard when I don't expect a memory to surface and I can't stuff the pain back down before I lose it.

How interesting to read how we women can cry so easily. I have to "ditto" almost every comment.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's just a big lump in my throat, other times I tear up, tears rolling down my face and then there is that loud, nose blowing cry. I hate to do that in a theater!
